On the 22nd of May Armenian Ambassador Vahagn Afyan met with Nepal’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal.
During the meeting, Ambassador Afyan spoke about the prospects for developing bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of expanding the legal framework, deepening trade and economic ties, and promoting regional connectivity. The Armenian Ambassador drew his counterpart’s attention to the “Crossroads of Peace” and “TRIPP Route” projects, stressing that among the priorities of the Armenian government are the unblocking of the region’s economic infrastructure and its full operation under conditions of established peace. The meeting also highlighted the importance of ongoing cooperation within international organizations.
Nepal’s Foreign Minister echoed the Ambassador’s views regarding the prospects for expanding bilateral relations, particularly highlighting broad areas for cooperation such as tourism and information technology.
Based on Nepal’s own priorities regarding environmental protection and biodiversity conservation, the Foreign Minister accepted the Armenian Ambassador’s proposal for high-level participation in the COP17 conference to be held in Yerevan.
On the same day, Ambassador Afyan also held discussions over a working lunch with members of the “Ambassadors Club” organization.
